Hi
there
Can
you believe it is over two months since I left Jo’burg? The times has flown. So
fast in fact it is rather scary.
I’m
really enjoying my little apartment. I have bought some pot plants and my boss
has taped some music for me and I have found myself a local coffee and cake
place which stays open late late late so I am feeling very much at home.
Kuzuhara is a movie fanatic and brings videos to the office on a regular basis
so even on the days I don’t work I often go in to chat to the two office ladies
and take in a movie.
The
weather until today has been unseasonably warm. Yesterday I visited a temple in
NW Okayama that was spread over quite a large hilly area and included a lake
complete with curved stone bridges leading to tiny islands in its centre. Nice.
Today was clear, but cold. I had to go to a meeting this evening at the main
school and having decided to cycle there – 30 minutes one way – I found my
scarf works wonders. I came back a new way that took me along a canal that runs
through the centre of the city. Less crowded, less polluted and far more
pleasant. Cycling under drooping willows past sleepy swans and comatose carp
glowing orange in the dark waters.
I
spent the weekend in Kyoto.
Monday was a public holiday so I trained in on Saturday night in time for
Brian’s party, and trained out on Monday evening. I stayed at Tracey’s place
and will be going back on Xmas day. From next month we will have Thursdays off
instead of Sundays. As Xmas falls on a Thursday, this would seem like good
luck. Except that it is the last opportunity on which I can get my visa renewed
and as it is not a holiday for the Japanese that is how I shall be spending at
least part of my day. Yuch!
I
have an incredible yen to do a jigsaw puzzle. I can’t find one here that I like
and have been daydreaming about the one Garth and I gave you, mom. Could you
post it to me, please??! ASAP! Thanx.
I
guess that’s about all. Thanks for your latest letter. I seem to be busy, but
when I sit down to write a letter, I can’t think how I’ve been spending my
days. ODD.
Love
to Oupa and Ruby and yourselves
Gail
PS.
Please submit my tax return for me. TAH.
