I may be going nowhere, but what a ride. - Shaun Hick

13 December 2019, Monrovia to Monrovia, 19km
Star Motel $10 (R142)

WhatsApp: A long day, but less than 15km cycled instead of the planned 55km. We utilized our extra day in Monrovia to pick up a visa for Guinea Conakry. The most expensive to date - $125 each, but also the easiest. Was prepared and endorsed by the ambassador while we waited. No form to complete, no photos or supporting documents needed. Just the cash and a brief howdedo with the ambassador. On Wednesday, when we were turned away from the Sierra Leone embassy, we were told to come back early this morning and we would be on our way in no time. FOUR HOURS it took to chat to the ambassador and have a visa stamped into our passports. Grrr... Then on the very edge of the city centre, Charl spotted a bike workshop and we decided to see if they could fix his half-fixed bike. Three hours later, the bike was better, but a long way from perfect. Staying at a less-than-pleasing motel in the industrial north of Monrovia, but thrilled to find a Korean restaurant 1km from our bed. Yum.
