On my 62nd birthday on May 3, I treated myself to a facial at the local gym, and Charl and I shared an eisbein and bratkartoffel in the courtyard of the Makalani Hotel.
On May 5, we hired a VW Polo with a flat spare tyre and drove the 100km or so to Etosha National Park for a day of game viewing. We saw no big cats, but plenty of elephants, buck, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe; on lone rhino and two jackal.
